We here at the USBG are always looking for ways to grow and learn, ever honing our craft. One of the best ways to learn is to put yourself in a challenge where you have to stretch your creativity and put your best foot forward. There are many such opportunities for members, some local or regional, some of them national or even international. One of the most challenging cocktail competitions in the world is Diageo’s World Class. It’s a rigorous international competition and its finalists are widely regarded as among the best in the business.
Two of our Austin chapter members are going to compete for the Regional Finalists Competition at the USBG Southwest Regional Conference which this year is in Las Vegas, April 15-18. One was in the competition last year, making it to the Regional Finals in Oklahoma City, our very own president, Alexis Mijares. This year she is joined by one of our chapter’s newest members, Amy Albin. They’re the only two from the Austin Chapter, and also the only two women of the eight Southwest Regional finalists. They do our chapter proud, and we hope the best for them at the competition.
Edit: It was a tough competition! We are awed and proud of Amy Albin for making it to the Southwest Regionals, especially because this was her very first contest entry. Also awesome, Alexis Mijares moves along to the World Class National Finals, held in Louisville, KY June 4-6th, 2018.
